FPT Industrial, the powertrain brand of Iveco Group (MI:IVG) and a renowned manufacturer of environmentally friendly solutions, has collaborated closely with Maserati, the iconic House of the Trident, to introduce the groundbreaking Maserati Gran Turismo Folgore. This remarkable vehicle marks Maserati’s first-ever venture into 100% electric powertrain technology.
The Gran Turismo Folgore, a symbol of power and elegance for almost a century, harnesses cutting-edge advancements derived from Formula E and operates on 800V technology. Developed jointly by FPT Industrial and Maserati, the car is equipped with three 300 kW permanent-magnet motors integrated into front and rear FPT Industrial electric axles. With a staggering power output of up to 761 hp, this powerful and efficient system enables the Gran Turismo Folgore to achieve an impressive 0-100 km/h time of just 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 325 km/h.

The FPT Industrial ePropulsion system, perfectly aligned with Maserati’s DNA, delivers outstanding performance while maintaining the exceptional quality and elegance synonymous with the Trident brand. The FPT Industrial eAxles, consisting of a single-motor electric axle at the front and a two-motor electric axle at the rear, have been specifically developed to offer superior power density, reaching up to 4.83 kW/kg. These groundbreaking eAxles, manufactured at the carbon-neutral ePowertrain plant in Turin, Italy, reflect FPT Industrial’s commitment to sustainability.
Both the front and rear eAxles feature a compact and lightweight design, with all components, including the inverters, seamlessly integrated into the axles themselves. This eliminates the need for additional space and weight distribution considerations elsewhere in the vehicle, making it especially advantageous for a high-performance car like the new Maserati Gran Turismo Folgore.

Commenting on the collaboration, Andrea Cugnini, Head of FPT Industrial’s ePowertrain Business Line, stated, “Being chosen as a technology partner by Maserati involves overcoming challenges that demand extensive experience, expertise, and adaptability. I am proud to say that our team went above and beyond to tackle these challenges, allowing FPT Industrial to establish a presence in the high-performance car segment and contribute to the creation of an authentic Italian masterpiece. We have achieved something truly remarkable through tailored technology, sustainability, and the exhilaration provided by only the finest luxury vehicles.”
The eAX 300-F front electric axle boasts an impressive peak power output of over 300 kW and maximum wheel torque of 3,100 Nm. It also incorporates a parking lock system, enhancing safety by preventing vehicle movement while parked.
The eAX 600-R rear dual-motor electric axle offers peak power exceeding 600 kW and maximum wheel torque of 6,500 Nm. This patented rear axle design allows for independent torque management of each wheel, resulting in superior safety, stability, and control for the Gran Turismo Folgore in any driving situation.
The 100% electric Maserati Gran Turismo Folgore made its press debut in January 2023 and was later unveiled to the public at the Motor Valley Fest in Modena, Italy.
