FPT, a global technology and IT services company, has entered into a strategic partnership with Japan-based automotive software developer ATEC, marking ATEC’s first international collaboration. The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at co-developing advanced automotive software solutions to support the growing demands of Japan’s mobility sector.

This alliance is set to address pressing industry issues, such as the increasing need for embedded software and the shortage of experienced professionals in the automotive domain. By merging ATEC’s decades of expertise in Japan’s automotive industry with FPT’s global development capabilities, the partnership will deliver robust, future-ready solutions. Key areas of focus include expanding services in AUTOSAR and Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) for top Japanese automakers.

As a major step under this agreement, FPT and ATEC will set up a new Offshore Development Center in Ho Chi Minh City, with potential expansion planned in the coming years. This facility will enable both parties to scale their engineering efforts and respond faster to industry requirements.

For ATEC, this partnership opens new avenues to expand its capabilities and secure the resources necessary to meet growing project demands. FPT, in turn, gains valuable access to ATEC’s client network and a stronger foothold in Japan’s competitive automotive software market.

“Japan’s automotive landscape is evolving rapidly with AI and software-driven innovations. By aligning FPT’s global automotive expertise with ATEC’s deep-rooted engineering experience, we’re setting the stage for impactful growth and long-term collaboration,” said Do Van Khac, SEVP of FPT Software and CEO of FPT Japan.

FPT has over 20 years of experience in the automotive domain, working with global OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers. In 2023, the company launched a dedicated automotive subsidiary focused on SDV solutions. With more than 4,500 professionals and 17 offices across Japan, supported by 15,000 offshore engineers worldwide, FPT is well-positioned to make a meaningful impact. In 2024 alone, the company earned over USD 500 million from its Japanese operations, with plans to cross USD 1 billion and rank among the top 15 IT service providers in Japan by 2027.

Founded in 1988, ATEC is an engineering firm specializing in software, electrical, electronics, and mechanical design. With deep involvement in the automotive industry, ATEC has worked with numerous automakers and suppliers to develop in-vehicle technologies. The company is certified by Germany’s Vector Informatik as an “Engineering Partner” for its expertise in AUTOSAR-compliant software, custom software components, legacy system upgrades, and technical consulting.

Headquartered in Vietnam, FPT Corporation is a global leader in technology, telecommunications, and education. With over 54,000 employees and a 2024 revenue of USD 2.47 billion, FPT is committed to digital, intelligent, and green transformations for its global clients.
