Force Motors has reached a production milestone at its Chennai engine assembly plant, delivering its 100,000th engine built for BMW Group India. The engine was installed in a BMW X5, marking a key achievement in the long-running collaboration between the two companies.

This milestone reflects ten years of coordinated manufacturing efforts and a partnership focused on precision engineering, high-quality standards, and local manufacturing under the ‘Make in India’ framework. The event was attended by senior representatives from both companies, including Marcus Wollens, Vice President of BMW Production Network 2, BMW AG; Thomas Dose, Managing Director of BMW Group Plant Chennai; and Prasan Firodia, Managing Director of Force Motors Ltd.

Opened in 2015, the Chennai facility was purpose-built to assemble engines for BMW vehicles produced in India. The plant is equipped with advanced automation, strict quality control systems, and a digitally connected production environment. Its skilled workforce ensures that every engine meets BMW Group’s international manufacturing benchmarks.

Mr Wollens commented, “Reaching the 100,000-engine mark highlights the strong working relationship we’ve built with Force Motors. The consistent quality and performance of these engines are a result of years of dedicated teamwork.”

Mr Dose added, “At BMW Group Plant Chennai, we hold ourselves to the same standards as any other BMW facility worldwide. Our collaboration with Force Motors reflects our joint focus on delivering locally built components that meet global expectations.”

Mr Firodia stated, “We are proud to celebrate this production landmark. Over the past decade, our Chennai facility has played a crucial role in delivering reliable, high-performance engines for BMW cars in India. Our continued cooperation supports BMW Group India’s growth plans and our shared commitment to local manufacturing.”

The partnership between Force Motors and BMW Group India has become a key part of the latter’s localization strategy, combining German engineering with Indian manufacturing capabilities. This achievement underlines what can be accomplished through long-term industrial cooperation and shared operational goals.
