Flytrex has announced the opening of a new drone manufacturing and maintenance facility in Pilot Point, Texas, as part of its strategy to rapidly expand autonomous food delivery operations across the Dallas-Fort Worth metro region. The nearly 8,000-square-foot facility will serve as a central operational hub for the company’s regional growth plans and is capable of assembling thousands of drones annually. The expansion follows Flytrex’s recent partnerships with major food delivery platforms DoorDash and Uber Eats, strengthening its position in the fast-growing drone delivery market.
The new facility will assemble Flytrex’s next-generation Sky2 drone, which features an industry-leading payload capacity of 8.8 pounds. In addition to manufacturing operations, the site includes dedicated maintenance infrastructure and a secure outdoor testing area for pre-production flight evaluations and operational readiness.
Currently staffed by 20 employees, the facility is expected to expand to approximately 50 personnel while supporting an annual production capacity of nearly 1,000 drones as additional delivery sites become operational across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The investment aligns with increasing support for domestically manufactured drone technologies in the United States. In 2025, the White House issued an executive order encouraging federal agencies to prioritize American-made drone systems and strengthen the country’s domestic drone manufacturing ecosystem.
Flytrex’s local manufacturing approach differentiates the company from competitors by allowing drones to be assembled, tested and maintained within the same region where they operate. The company believes this localized model will improve operational efficiency, support faster deployment and strengthen supply chain resilience.
As part of its ongoing expansion strategy, Flytrex is preparing to launch a new delivery site in Rowlett, which will expand its service coverage in the Dallas-Fort Worth region to nearly 200,000 residents. The company plans to add between five and seven additional delivery sites during the second and third quarters of 2026, with a long-term goal of operating 60 delivery locations across the metro area by mid-2027.
Amit Regev, Co-Founder and CEO of Flytrex, said the Dallas-Fort Worth region is emerging as a key market for scaling drone delivery operations. He added that establishing local manufacturing and maintenance infrastructure forms an important part of the company’s strategy to build sustainable and regionally integrated delivery networks.
Flytrex has completed more than 200,000 drone deliveries across the United States and remains one of only four drone delivery providers in the country authorized by the FAA for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations. The company continues to expand autonomous logistics capabilities aimed at transforming last-mile delivery services for suburban communities.
