FLSmidth (FLS), a supplier of mineral processing technologies and services, has secured an order worth approximately DKK 225 million to supply grinding equipment for a gold project in North America. The order was booked in the third quarter of 2026 and does not change the company’s full-year financial guidance.
Under the agreement, FLS will provide a grinding package comprising a shell-supported semi-autogenous grinding (SAG) mill measuring 10.4 metres in diameter by 5.3 metres effective grinding length (EGL), and a ball mill measuring 7.9 metres in diameter by 12.8 metres EGL.
Both mills will be equipped with dual reducer gear drives and associated electrical equipment. The supply package also includes FLS Armour™ mill liners, special tools and commissioning spares. The equipment is expected to be installed and commissioned during 2028.
The order adds to FLS’s work supplying grinding technologies to the global mining industry. SAG and ball mills are used to grind ore as part of mineral processing operations, and their performance can affect energy consumption, throughput and overall operating costs.
FLS said its milling technologies draw on decades of operating experience and a track record of supplying grinding equipment for mining projects. The company combines its mill systems with process control technology, digital tools and engineered mill liners to help mining operators improve productivity and equipment availability.
Qasim Abrahams, Products Business Line President at FLS, said the order reflected customer confidence in the company’s SAG and ball mill solutions. “This order reinforces our position as a leading supplier of grinding technology to the global mining industry and reflects the confidence customers place in our proven SAG and ball mill solutions,” Mr Abrahams said. He added that the equipment was designed to provide reliable and energy-efficient performance and support productivity over the life of the operation.
FLS’s grinding portfolio includes SAG mills and ball mills designed to process ore at high throughput while managing energy use. The company’s supporting technologies include advanced process control systems, digital tools and specially engineered mill liners.
According to FLS, these systems can help mining companies improve equipment uptime, increase productivity and reduce total cost of ownership. The company did not identify the gold project or its owner in the announcement. The DKK 225 million order represents a new supply contract for FLS’s mineral processing business. Delivery, installation and commissioning are scheduled to take place ahead of the equipment entering operation in 2028.
