Flender Achieves Platinum Status in Global Sustainability Rankings

Flender, the German drive systems specialist, has once again secured the platinum medal from EcoVadis, ranking it among the top 1% of the most sustainable companies worldwide. After earning gold in its debut application in 2022, Flender has now reached the highest level of recognition for the second consecutive year, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility.

The company achieved a remarkable improvement in its EcoVadis score, rising from 78 to 83 points overall. Environmental performance saw a significant leap from 80 to 90 points, while ethical practices improved from 70 to 80 points.

Key initiatives included leveraging heat from production processes to enhance energy efficiency, implementing regular environmental audits, and fostering employee well-being and development. Flender’s product advancements, such as higher power-density wind gearboxes, are also contributing to resource efficiency and the energy transition.

Flender’s sustainability management system spans the four areas evaluated by EcoVadis—environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. This integrated approach ensures transparency and accountability across its value chain. Regular supplier evaluations and fair competition audits further reinforce its commitment to ethical and sustainable operations.

CEO Andreas Evertz emphasized Flender’s dedication to setting industry benchmarks in corporate social responsibility, pledging ongoing improvements and collaboration with partners to advance shared sustainability goals. Head of CSR Kimberley ten Broeke attributed the achievement to a collective organizational effort, showcasing how sustainability has become ingrained in Flender’s operations.
