Over the next four years, ECTA, the European Cutting Tools Association, will be under the leadership of Federico Costa, an Italian president. Costa, who serves as the managing director of FEBAMETAL in Grugliasco (Turin), is an associate member of UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE.

ECTA, the European Cutting Tools Association, is a renowned organization dedicated to promoting the cutting tool industry in Europe. With a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1988, the company has been a driving force in advancing the interests of cutting tool manufacturers and suppliers across the continent.

The company plays a pivotal role in fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among its members, who represent a wide array of cutting tool companies, including manufacturers, distributors, and research institutes. The association’s mission is to enhance the competitiveness of the European cutting tool industry by advocating for favorable policies, promoting innovation, and providing valuable networking opportunities.

Federico Costa emphasized that European tool manufacturers are currently facing challenges due to international geopolitical uncertainty and new regulatory requirements from the European Union. ECTA’s commitment for the future is to offer valuable insights and opportunities for dialogue to help companies navigate this complex environment. The organization’s annual events and meetings will focus on addressing the key concerns of European operators in the industry.

Federico Costa, the president of ECTA, stated that he aims to enhance the European industry’s image by suggesting new initiatives. These efforts will not only boost its global positioning but also strengthen it in the long run. Following his attendance at the upcoming World Conference on Cutting Tools in Osaka this year, the association, supported by UCIMU, will focus on arranging the ECTA Conference in Italy in 2025.

Alfredo Mariotti, the general manager of UCIMU SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, expressed pride in UCIMU’s association with the presidency of ECTA being entrusted to an Italian entrepreneur once more. He expressed confidence in Federico Costa, the managing director of their longstanding member company FEBAMETAL, to effectively fulfill this role.

Mariotti emphasized Italian manufacturers’ longstanding ability to adapt to market changes, expressing optimism about Costa’s presidency. He also extended best wishes to President Costa and reiterated UCIMU’s commitment to supporting ECTA in organizing the upcoming its Conference, scheduled to be held in Italy in 2025.

In addition to UCIMU-SISTEMI PER PRODURRE, ECTA’s members include VDMA from Germany, AFM from Spain, SWISSMEM from Switzerland, and BHECT-MTA from Great Britain. Further, Sutton Tools from the Netherlands, ATA Tools from Ireland, and Boehlerit from Austria have also joined the association.
