Exide Industries Limited announced on August 20, 2025, that it has invested ₹100 crore into its wholly-owned subsidiary, Exide Energy Solutions Limited (EESL), through a rights issue. This investment, which involved subscribing to 2.5 crore equity shares at ₹10 per share, along with a premium of ₹30 per share, raises Exide’s total stake in EESL to ₹3,802.23 crore. The company retains its 100% ownership in the subsidiary.

EESL, founded in March 2022, is focused on producing lithium-ion battery cells, modules, and packs for electric vehicles and stationary applications in India. As of March 31, 2025, the subsidiary reported a paid-up share capital of ₹1,254.21 crore and a net worth of ₹2,738.06 crore. Despite reporting a turnover of ₹116.89 crore and a net loss of ₹209.12 crore for FY25, Exide Industries believes the fresh capital injection will enhance EESL’s greenfield project in Bengaluru, aimed at large-scale lithium-ion battery manufacturing. The funding will also help the subsidiary expand its business operations.

The rights issue transaction was conducted on an arm’s length basis, and no changes were made to Exide’s complete ownership of EESL. No additional regulatory approvals were necessary for the allotment, which was completed on August 20, 2025.

For FY24, EESL generated ₹239.14 crore in revenue, and ₹112.05 crore in FY23, following its merger with Exide Energy Private. The subsidiary operates entirely within India, producing advanced chemistry battery cells in cylindrical, pouch, and prismatic formats, in addition to assembling modules and packs.
