Excel Industries Limited has received a Silver Rating in the EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment, placing the company among the top 15% of businesses assessed globally by EcoVadis. The assessment evaluates companies on their sustainability practices across four areas: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The evaluation covers 21 criteria and is benchmarked against internationally recognised frameworks and standards, including the United Nations Global Compact, International Labour Organization conventions, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework.

The Silver Rating reflects Excel Industries’ performance across the areas evaluated by EcoVadis. The company has operations spanning performance solutions and contract manufacturing, along with businesses serving the agrochemical, specialty chemicals and pharmaceutical sectors.

Excel Industries is an Indian chemical manufacturer with a focus on indigenous chemical technologies and waste management practices. The company has been operating in the domestic chemical manufacturing sector for several decades and has developed capabilities across multiple chemical product categories.

Its portfolio includes agrochemical intermediates, yellow phosphorus derivatives, performance solutions, specialty chemicals, polymer inputs and pharmaceutical active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and intermediates. The company operates three large-scale manufacturing facilities located at Roha and Lote in Maharashtra and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. These facilities support its manufacturing activities across its different product segments.

The EcoVadis assessment is designed to evaluate corporate sustainability management systems and performance against environmental, social, ethical and procurement-related criteria. Its framework considers areas such as environmental management, labour and human rights practices, business ethics and sustainable procurement.

For Excel Industries, the Silver Rating provides an external assessment of its sustainability practices across these areas. The recognition also reflects the company’s activities in performance solutions and contract manufacturing, which form part of its broader manufacturing operations.

Excel Industries has built its business around chemical manufacturing and the development of domestic chemical technologies. Its product portfolio serves customers across industries that use agrochemical intermediates, specialty chemicals, polymer-related inputs and pharmaceutical materials.

The company’s manufacturing network in Roha, Lote and Visakhapatnam provides production capabilities across its portfolio. Its operations include products used in agriculture, pharmaceuticals and industrial applications. The EcoVadis assessment places emphasis on established sustainability frameworks and internationally recognised standards. Companies are assessed on their policies, actions and results across the four evaluation pillars.

The Silver Rating adds to Excel Industries’ sustainability credentials as it continues to operate across chemical manufacturing and related businesses. The company remains focused on its core areas of agrochemical intermediates, specialty chemicals, performance solutions, polymer inputs and pharmaceutical APIs and intermediates.

Excel Industries said the assessment recognises its performance under the EcoVadis framework and its presence across the chemical manufacturing and contract manufacturing segments. The company is among the established players in India’s chemical manufacturing industry, with its operations supported by three large-scale manufacturing sites and a portfolio serving multiple industrial sectors.
