Evren, a platform introduced by Brookfield in India, has finalized a 300 MW Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NTPC Ltd to supply reliable and dispatchable renewable energy, according to an official statement released on Monday.

The facility, designed to deliver 300 MW of Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE), integrates solar, wind, and battery storage systems to optimize energy dispatch during peak demand hours. This innovation allows power distribution companies to better align power supply with renewable energy availability, particularly during high-demand periods, the statement explained.

This PPA, which supports the development of nearly 1 GW of renewable energy capacity, including wind, solar, and energy storage solutions, will assist distribution companies in meeting their renewable energy and storage obligations. Evren is a clean energy development platform launched in India as a joint venture between Brookfield and Axis Energy.

Headquartered in Mumbai, Evren aims to contribute significantly to India’s renewable energy goals by developing over 6 gigawatts (GW) of solar and wind energy assets in the next 2–3 years. The platform’s initial focus is on the resource-rich state of Andhra Pradesh, where it has committed to investing $5 billion to develop 3.5 GW of solar and 5.5 GW of wind energy projects. Approximately 3 GW of these projects are scheduled for commissioning by the end of 2026 .

In addition to its core solar and wind initiatives, Evren is exploring opportunities in integrated solar module manufacturing, pumped storage, battery storage, e-mobility, and green ammonia in Andhra Pradesh. The platform’s strategic investments are expected to stimulate economic growth in the region, create thousands of jobs, and contribute to the state’s energy security by reducing reliance on fossil fuels .

Suman Kumar, CEO of Evren, commented, “The FDRE tender represents a significant milestone for Evren. We are actively investing in a robust pipeline of high-quality resources, including land with approved interconnections and mapped data, which positions us to provide large-scale decarbonization solutions. We are committed to driving India’s renewable energy transition forward.”

Evren’s commitment to renewable energy development is further demonstrated through its partnership with Suzlon Group. In January 2024, Suzlon secured a 642 MW wind power project from Evren’s subsidiary, ABC Cleantech Private Limited. Suzlon will supply and install 214 wind turbines with a rated capacity of 3 MW each in Andhra Pradesh, contributing to the state’s renewable energy capacity and supporting Evren’s overarching clean energy objectives .
