ETAG Energietechnik, a subsidiary of the European Technology Alliance Group (ETAG), has announced plans to invest ₹300 crore in establishing a new facility in Mangaluru. Located within the Mangalore SEZ (Special Economic Zone), the unit is expected to be operational by early 2026. The investment is part of the company’s broader strategy to expand its footprint in Asia, and it aims to generate annual exports worth $110 million. The facility will focus on research, product development, and manufacturing, and will employ a significant number of deaf and mute workers, following the company’s successful model in Germany, where many employees from similar backgrounds are part of the workforce.

Prakash Periera, Managing Director of ETAG Energietechnik, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing opportunities for individuals with disabilities, noting that a German trainer will help train staff in Mangaluru. He also highlighted the company’s focus on advancing next-generation power technologies and electric vehicle charging infrastructure as part of its broader sustainability efforts.

This investment is also in alignment with the “Back to Ooru” initiative led by Capt. Brijesh Chowta, Member of Parliament for Dakshina Kannada, which aims to encourage people from the coastal Karnataka region to return and set up businesses. Capt Chowta expressed his support for the project and stated that his office, in collaboration with the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), would continue efforts to bring more investments to Mangaluru. V Suryanarayan, CEO of Mangalore SEZ Ltd, and Nithin J Shetty, a Chartered Accountant from Mangaluru, were also present at the event.
