Ergon Labs, a tech-driven engineering firm, has received a ₹50 crore order from electric vehicle manufacturer Omega Seiki for its advanced powertrain systems, which will be deployed in Omega’s upcoming range of electric three-wheelers. As part of a broader partnership, the two companies are also co-developing a high-performance L5-category cargo EV.

This new vehicle will be designed to carry loads over 500 kg and handle gradients up to 30%, making it ideal for replacing diesel-powered options in markets like Kerala and India’s Northeast.Omega Seiki also confirmed a strategic investment in Ergon Labs by its Founder and Chairman, though the size of the investment remains undisclosed.

The collaboration includes the integration of Ergon’s Integrated Power Converter (IPC) into Omega’s electric three-wheelers. This marks the first time an Indian OEM will use this compact, dual-function unit, which combines the on-board charger and motor controller into a single system.

The first commercial rollout will see 2,000 units of the L5 passenger model deployed across the country during the current financial year. Omega stated that the IPC-backed vehicles have already undergone over 50,000 km of road testing and are in the final stages of certification. The IPC is designed to improve vehicle performance by offering better gradeability, higher payload capacity, and more reliable charging, all through tighter integration of hardware and software.

Commenting on the development, Ashwin Ramanujam, CEO of Ergon Labs, said, “This collaboration not only enhances the core performance of Omega’s electric vehicles but also sets the groundwork for our upcoming innovation—an ultra-fast, one-hour home charging solution for two-wheelers, which we aim to launch in 2026.”

Omega Seiki Pvt. Ltd., part of the Anglian Omega Group, is a fast-rising electric vehicle manufacturer dedicated to developing sustainable and future-focused mobility solutions for India and beyond. The company has established a strong foothold in the electric three-wheeler segment, driven by a rapidly expanding dealership network and a growing presence in both passenger and cargo transport sectors.

Ergon Labs is an engineering-driven start-up specializing in next-generation powertrain technologies for light electric vehicles. Focused on transforming charging patterns and enhancing vehicle performance, Ergon’s offerings—beginning with the Integrated Power Converter—seamlessly combine hardware and software innovations to deliver better efficiency, lower costs, and improved reliability.
