Epsilon Advanced Materials (EAM), a leading global producer of lithium-ion battery anode and cathode materials, has released its inaugural Sustainability Report for 2023-24. The report was unveiled during the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) summit, India’s Outlook on Clean Energy Storage: A Roadmap to Net Zero, in New Delhi, with Mr Srikant Nagulapalli, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power, in attendance.
The report details EAM’s dedication to Environment, Sustainability, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. The company has achieved significant milestones, including 100% energy self-sufficiency through a waste heat recovery power plant and attaining Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) by recycling all wastewater on-site.
A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of EAM’s graphite anode materials revealed a 78% reduction in emissions compared to conventional production in China. The comprehensive study evaluated environmental impact across all production stages, underscoring EAM’s contributions to global carbon reduction efforts.
The report also outlines advancements in digitalisation, with EAM achieving a 69% adoption rate and targeting 100% by 2025 to enhance transparency, efficiency, and sustainability monitoring. Under its Corporate Environmental Responsibility (CER) initiatives, EAM has positively impacted over 300,000 residents across 49 villages in Karnataka. The company has invested in health, education, gender equality, and infrastructure, while also supplying 1.2 million liters of drinking water during shortages.
