The ePlane Company, a trailblazer in flying electric taxis and urban air mobility, has joined forces with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT and digital solutions. The collaboration between The ePlane Company and TCS seeks to revolutionize urban mobility by combining The ePlane Company’s innovative compact eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft with TCS’s expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

This partnership aims to tackle critical urban challenges like congestion, inefficiency, and environmental impact, offering transformative solutions for sustainable and efficient transportation systems. The ePlane Company will showcase its advanced aircraft designs and cutting-edge technologies, while TCS will apply its digital transformation capabilities to optimize air mobility systems through AI, IoT, and data-driven analytics.

Vishnu Ramakrishnan, from the Founder’s Office at The ePlane Company, highlighted the shared vision: “Our collaboration with TCS is a significant step towards creating efficient and sustainable electric air mobility solutions, scaling our operations, and accelerating the realization of future-ready transportation.” Harrick Vin, CTO of TCS, echoed this enthusiasm, emphasizing their commitment to leveraging technology for innovation in electric aviation and sustainable urban solutions.

The partnership also emphasizes sustainability through the development of a “Keiretsu-like” framework and the integration of renewable energy to enhance the electric aviation ecosystem’s scalability and efficiency. Strategic initiatives outlined in the MoU include co-developing tailored solutions for TCS clients, conducting product demonstrations, and participating in innovation-focused events such as TCS PacePorts™. Together, these efforts aim to position the partnership as a leader in sustainable air mobility.

The ePlane Company, founded by Professor Satya Chakravarthy and incubated at IIT Madras in 2019, is transforming urban transportation with cutting-edge innovations. The company is developing the e200x, an eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft, designed to make intra-city commutes and cargo transport up to seven times faster, alleviating urban traffic congestion. Focused on compact, lightweight, and sustainable mobility solutions, ePlane is redefining the future of urban travel.

The concept of the flying taxi began to take shape in 2017 when Professor Chakravarthy, along with his students, collaborated as business partners to bring their groundbreaking idea to life. To advance the venture, Chakravarthy took a sabbatical from his teaching role, and by 2019, the company was officially incubated at IIT Madras, committed to revolutionizing urban mobility.
