ENNOVI, a provider of mobility electrification solutions, has introduced a new sealing technology designed to prevent coolant leakage in hybrid and electric vehicle (xEV) drivetrain systems. The ENNOVI-SealTech system supports busbars and other interconnects across various components such as electric motors, inverters, and oil pump interfaces.
Managing interfaces where coolant is present on one side and a dry, electrically stable connection is required on the other presents significant challenges. According to Dominik Pawlik, Product Portfolio Director for Power Interconnects at ENNOVI, “Traditional methods—such as potting, O-rings, or gaskets—are associated with high costs, time-consuming secondary processing, and long-term reliability issues. ENNOVI-SealTech addresses all of these concerns.”
The sealing system is available in two configurations: double-walled shrink tubing and adhesive tape, both engineered to meet demanding application requirements. These approaches eliminate the need for additional processing steps while enhancing manufacturing efficiency and design adaptability without compromising performance.
Each ENNOVI-SealTech configuration undergoes extensive testing to validate durability and sealing effectiveness. The evaluation process includes thermal aging at 150°C for 1,000 hours, thermal shock testing from -40°C to +150°C for 600 cycles (15 minutes per cycle), in accordance with the EN 60068-2 standard, and comprehensive leak detection.
Designed for compatibility with a variety of materials and geometries, ENNOVI-SealTech supports multiple busbar shapes and is suitable for use with copper, aluminum, and plastics such as PA66, PBT, and PC.
