Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler start-up Emobi Manufacturing Private Limited has introduced the AKX LS Commuter, a low-speed electric vehicle tailored for micro-mobility and rapid commerce deliveries. Bharat Rao, Founder and CEO of Emobi, indicated that the company is prioritizing its B2B marketplace strategy to build a robust foundation before venturing into the B2C market, aiming to expand into consumer sales by FY28.
“For the next two to three years, our primary focus will be on B2B opportunities, enabling us to engage with a growing segment within the broader B2C landscape,” Rao stated. He added that this strategy will facilitate the refinement of key EV components, such as the battery, while allowing time for the charging infrastructure to develop.
With the launch of the AKX LS, Emobi’s lineup now includes three bike variants: a certified low-speed model, a high-speed variant that is currently undergoing certification, and the medium-speed AKX, which is in the testing phase.
Following certification, Emobi anticipates revenue growth starting next year. “This financial year, we expect to see modest revenues as we focus on certification and the necessary tooling for mass production. We are optimistic about revenue growth beginning next year,” Rao shared.
The company also plans to roll out its first pilot vehicle by November. “We expect to scale up to larger deployments by early next financial year, and with full integration of last-mile delivery partners, we anticipate a transition to broader deployments around that time,” he added.
Additionally, Emobi has partnered with Livaah Innovations to ensure that the battery pack used in the AKX is compatible with Livaah’s inverters. Rao explained, “This collaboration allows the battery packs not only to charge but also to function as a backup power source during outages.”
