EMO Trade Fair to Remain in Hanover Beyond 2025

EMO, recognised globally as the leading trade fair for production technology, will continue to be staged in Hanover. The decision was confirmed by the Executive Board of the VDW (German Machine Tool Builders’ Association) during its autumn meeting.

“We are pleased to have reached a long-term and future-ready decision,” stated EMO General Commissioner Carl Martin Welcker. “The sustained commitment of policymakers in Lower Saxony to further modernise and expand the exhibition grounds was a strong factor in this outcome. These developments ensure that the site will continue to meet the evolving technical and logistical requirements of a world-class industrial fair. Maintaining our long-standing partnership with Deutsche Messe allows us to build on an established foundation and continue offering exhibitors and visitors optimal conditions.”

In consultation with CECIMO, the owner of the EMO brand, and Ucimu, organiser of the Milan editions, the VDW has finalised the trade fair schedule up to 2031. According to the agreed plan, EMO will take place in Milan in 2027, followed by Hanover in 2029, and return to Milan again in 2031.

After completing this cycle, the event will resume its traditional alternating format, ensuring continuity and long-term planning for exhibitors, industry stakeholders and international visitors.

The most recent edition, held from 22–26 September 2025 under the theme Innovate Manufacturing, showcased the full spectrum of the metalworking and industrial production chain—from machine tools and precision systems to automation, material handling, digital technologies and industrial electronics. The 2025 edition marked the 50th anniversary of EMO.

More than 1,600 exhibitors from 44 countries participated, drawing nearly 80,000 trade visitors from approximately 140 nations. EMO continues to be one of the most internationally represented industrial platforms worldwide, attracting key decision-makers from industries such as automotive, aerospace, machinery and plant engineering, tool and mould making, medical technology and precision manufacturing.

With a strong focus on industry developments, global collaboration and solutions for high-performance manufacturing, EMO remains a major forum for technological progress, market orientation and innovation exchange within the global metalworking community.
