Emirates has officially taken delivery of its first Airbus A350-900, a milestone in the airline’s strategic fleet growth and modernization plan. The aircraft is the first of 65 A350-900s ordered by Emirates, reflecting its longstanding collaboration with Airbus, built on cutting-edge innovation and operational excellence.
The A350-900 is set to bolster Emirates’ medium and long-haul operations, enabling the airline to expand its network and support Dubai’s ambitious Economic Agenda, which aims to connect 400 new cities to the emirate’s trade map over the next decade. This fleet addition will also play a pivotal role in developing the Dubai World Central (DWC) mega hub, reinforcing Dubai’s status as a global aviation powerhouse.
Configured with three spacious cabin classes, the A350-900 will accommodate 312 passengers, featuring 32 business class seats, 21 premium economy seats, and 259 in economy class. Emirates will also become the first airline in the Middle East to adopt Airbus’ HBCplus satcom technology, providing passengers with high-speed, seamless global connectivity.
The A350-900 is recognized as the most modern and fuel-efficient widebody aircraft in its class. Equipped with advanced aerodynamics, lightweight materials, and next-generation engines, the aircraft delivers a 25% improvement in fuel efficiency, lower operating costs, and reduced CO₂ emissions. Its innovative Airspace cabin offers the quietest twin-aisle experience in the sky, with a 50% reduction in noise footprint compared to previous-generation aircraft.
Designed with sustainability in mind, the A350 is capable of operating with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with Airbus targeting 100% SAF compatibility by 2030. The A350 Family has already attracted over 1,340 orders from 60 customers worldwide as of October 2024, underscoring its position as a leader in the long-range aircraft market. This delivery represents a significant step forward in Emirates’ journey toward enhanced global connectivity, sustainability, and passenger experience.
