Brazil’s Embraer has formally launched a fully owned subsidiary in India, with its corporate office based in AeroCity, New Delhi. The move reflects the company’s intention to increase its involvement in India’s aerospace and defense sectors and explore future collaboration opportunities within the country’s growing aviation landscape.

The new entity will support operations across multiple areas including defense, commercial and business aviation, support services, and the emerging field of urban air mobility. Embraer is currently assembling a local team to handle functions such as procurement, supply chain, engineering, and other core corporate roles to expand its capacity in India.

Speaking about the development, Embraer’s President and CEO Francisco Gomes Neto emphasized India’s strategic importance to the company. He highlighted the potential for long-term cooperation across several segments, pointing to India’s policy push for domestic manufacturing and regional air connectivity.

Embraer currently operates close to 50 aircraft in India, spanning various models used in commercial, defense, and private aviation. The company also maintains a service and support network within the country. Its presence is expected to grow further with participation in key industry events such as the IATA Annual General Meeting 2025, scheduled to be held in New Delhi.

This expansion builds on earlier efforts, including a memorandum of understanding signed in early 2024 with Mahindra Defence Systems to explore a joint bid for the Indian Air Force’s Medium Transport Aircraft program, featuring the C-390 Millennium. The aircraft is designed for multi-mission use and has already been deployed for various operational roles globally. Additionally, Embraer’s E-Jets platform is seen as a valuable solution for improving regional air connectivity in India’s tier-2 and tier-3 cities, supporting the broader goal of making India a global aviation hub.

Founded in 1969, it has grown into one of the world’s leading aerospace manufacturers, especially renowned for its regional jets, which are widely used by airlines across the globe. The company is also a significant player in the defense sector, producing military aircraft and providing integrated solutions for defense and security.

With a strong focus on innovation, the company is expanding its portfolio into advanced technologies such as electric and hybrid aircraft. Embraer’s global presence includes partnerships and manufacturing facilities across various continents, reflecting its key role in both commercial and defense aviation markets.
