Embraco, a global brand specializing in refrigeration solutions and part of Nidec Global Appliance (GA), will soon begin manufacturing its compressors in India. The company has announced the establishment of a new production facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad), Maharashtra. This strategic move aims to support the growing demand for energy-efficient refrigeration products across India’s domestic and commercial sectors.

The facility, with a planned annual output of 6 million units, will start operations in the latter half of 2026. It will manufacture a wide range of compressors and electronic components used in residential and commercial refrigeration systems. The project involves a total investment of over $120 million and spans 55,000 square meters. Once operational, it is expected to generate employment for 750 to 1,000 people, contributing to the region’s industrial growth and skill development.

Alberto Casnati, President of Nidec Global Appliance, noted, “This investment is a significant step in expanding our global footprint and responding to India’s fast-growing refrigeration market. The support from both the Maharashtra state and central governments has played a pivotal role in enabling this project.”

The upcoming manufacturing facility will focus on producing four high-performance Embraco compressor models, known for their compact form and energy-efficient operation. Among them, the ES and EL models are fixed-speed compressors engineered for low-noise, dependable performance, and compatibility with eco-friendly natural refrigerants. The ES model, in particular, also caters to light commercial refrigeration needs, offering versatility alongside environmental benefits.

In addition to fixed-speed units, the factory will produce FMS and VLT variable-speed compressors. These inverter-driven models are designed for residential and commercial refrigeration, delivering enhanced energy efficiency, precise temperature control, and quieter operation. Despite their small footprint, these compressors match the cooling power of larger systems, giving appliance manufacturers more design flexibility without compromising on performance.

In addition to compressors, the facility will also produce inverter electronics, which manage compressor speeds based on cooling needs, thereby enhancing energy efficiency. The ES and FMS models are part of Embraco’s high-volume, globally recognized product lines, and will form a core offering from the Indian facility.

With this investment, Embraco is not only catering to domestic demand but also laying the groundwork for a regional export base. The company’s aim is to enhance local supply chain capabilities while reinforcing its leadership in the refrigeration sector across Asia and beyond.
