EKA Mobility announced on Thursday that it has received an order from the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) for the supply of 250 electric buses. These buses will be deployed on major routes throughout the city, improving public transportation quality while significantly reducing operational costs and emissions, according to EKA Mobility.
The contract for the bus service was awarded to Hansa Vahan India Private Limited, previously known as Hansa Travels, which will collaborate with EKA Mobility for this project. The company did not disclose the financial details of the order. EKA Mobility will produce and supply 12-meter, air-conditioned e-buses with a capacity of 41 seats to Hansa Travels and will also handle the annual maintenance for the entire operational period.

EKA, backed by equity partners Mitsui Co., Ltd. (Japan) and VDL Groep (Netherlands), has already deployed its electric buses in various locations, including UBER shuttles at Delhi’s airport, #UBERReads services, and Pune International Airport. The company also partners with IKEA in India to supply electric delivery vans.
