Eicher Trucks & Buses has inaugurated the Eicher Community Development Centre (E-CDC) in Pithampur, marking a significant step in its ongoing commitment to community advancement. Developed under the Eicher Group Foundation’s local area development initiative, the centre is designed to deliver focused interventions across education, healthcare, and livelihood enhancement for communities surrounding the company’s manufacturing hub.
The E-CDC brings together multiple development programs under one roof, creating a structured platform to improve access to essential services. The initiative aims to ensure that industrial growth is complemented by inclusive social progress, with measurable and long-term impact on local communities.
Vigyat Singh, Director, Eicher Group Foundation, emphasized the integrated approach of the initiative, stating that the centre aligns closely with the Foundation’s core focus areas. He noted that bringing education, healthcare, and livelihood programs together enables more consistent outcomes while addressing real community needs. The model is intended to strengthen both individual opportunities and the broader socio-economic fabric of the region.
Bhagwan K Bindiganavile, EVP – Strategic Planning, Brand & Communications, VECV, highlighted the company’s deep connection with Pithampur. He described the initiative as a structured effort to contribute meaningfully to the region’s development by improving access to essential services and creating sustainable opportunities for local residents.
The centre’s education programs focus on students from grades 4 to 10, with an emphasis on foundational learning and reintegration of school dropouts. Equipped with smart classrooms, a computer lab, and digital tools, the initiative is expected to benefit more than 300 students each year by improving academic performance and digital literacy.
Women’s empowerment is another key pillar of the E-CDC. The program currently supports 117 Self-Help Groups, enabling 459 women-led enterprises across over 1,000 households. Through skill development and entrepreneurship support, the initiative aims to expand this network to 500 self-sustaining businesses, enhancing income stability and economic resilience.
In healthcare, a mobile medical unit provides preventive and primary care services to industrial and nearby rural communities, reaching approximately 3,000 beneficiaries every month. The effort focuses on improving accessibility while promoting proactive health practices.
The E-CDC also complements ongoing initiatives such as skill development programs that connect local youth with employment opportunities. Designed as a scalable model, the centre is expected to expand to other regions, reinforcing Eicher’s long-term commitment to responsible growth and community development.
