Eco Recycling Limited, a pioneer in India’s e-waste management industry, has announced two major additions to its leadership—enhancing both global reach and policy expertise. BK Soni, Chairman and Managing Director of Eco Recycling, has been appointed to the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) of Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (SERI), the global organization behind the R2 Certification for responsible electronics recycling.
This appointment brings Indian perspectives to a key international platform and highlights Mr. Soni’s long-standing contribution to shaping India’s e-waste landscape. Under his leadership, Eco Recycling became one of the first Indian companies to receive the R2v3 certification. The company is also a member of the global alliance TERRA, underlining its commitment to best practices in the electronics recycling sector.
In addition to leading Eco Recycling, Mr Soni is a board member of the Material Recycling Association of India (MRAI) and has played an active role in policy discussions focused on circular economy, formalizing the informal sector, and strengthening compliance in waste management.
Speaking on his appointment, Mr Soni said “Joining SERI’s Technical Advisory Committee is both an honour and a responsibility. It allows India’s experience—particularly in managing informal sector integration and enforcing Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)—to inform global standards. This is also a step forward in aligning Eco Recycling with international developments in compliance, traceability, and sustainability.”
Eco Recycling has also appointed Dr Sandip Chatterjee as an Independent Director, effective July 19, 2025. Dr Chatterjee brings over 35 years of experience in electronics policy, sustainability, and circular economy initiatives. He has held senior roles in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and advised key national and international platforms, including NITI Aayog and SERI-USA.
Welcoming Dr Chatterjee, Mr Soni said “His expertise in circular economy policies and innovation will strengthen our Board’s strategic direction. As Eco Recycling continues to evolve, his guidance will be crucial in aligning our operations with broader sustainability goals and governance best practices.”
