Eberspaecher has inaugurated a new production facility in Przylesie, Poland, aimed at manufacturing thermal management systems for electric buses and coaches. The opening was celebrated by Eberspaecher management along with Brzeg District Governor Jacek Monkiewicz and Olszanka Mayor Tymoteusz Drebschok. Spanning 12,500 square meters, the plant began production in December.
Jörg Steins, CEO of Eberspaecher Group, highlighted that the growing demand for electric buses necessitated an expansion of the company’s air conditioning system production capabilities. The company has been operating in Poland for seven years, initially as part of the Olawa site, which continues to produce vehicle heaters for all drive types. Around 100 employees have transferred to the new facility, which will also house relocated production lines and a central spare parts warehouse. The plant will produce up to 20,000 thermal management systems annually, with a 30% increase in capacity compared to the previous site. Eberspaecher plans to expand the workforce to 150 employees in the next three to five years.
Sustainability was a key focus in the construction of the new facility, located near the A4/E40 freeway junction. The plant is designed to reduce operational CO₂ emissions by 50% and primary energy needs by 70% compared to traditional buildings. This is achieved through a photovoltaic system and a heating and cooling system powered by heat pumps. In addition to production, the site also includes areas for production planning, order processing, purchasing, and controlling.
Eberspaecher will start manufacturing the AC138 EVO thermal management system in January 2025, a high-tech product designed for hybrid and battery-electric buses. This system features a patented air circuit reversal and operates with the climate-friendly refrigerant CO₂ (R744), offering high energy efficiency with minimal system complexity.
With approximately 11,200 employees across 80 locations globally, Eberspaecher is a leading developer and supplier of automotive systems, specializing in exhaust technology, automotive electronics, and thermal management. The company generated around €6.4 billion in revenue in 2023, with €3.0 billion in net revenue adjusted for transitory items.
