Eberspaecher and Farasis Energy Europe have entered into an exclusive strategic partnership focused on the development, marketing, sales, and production of low-voltage batteries for the automotive industry. The collaboration will target the next generation of high-performance 12V and 48V systems, designed for mild hybrid and electric vehicles.
Based in the Stuttgart area, the two companies will jointly provide low-voltage batteries for automotive applications. They see significant potential in the market, particularly in high-performance low-voltage batteries for uses such as starter, back-up, and mild hybrid systems. Johannes Weber, Vice President of the Automotive Electronics Business Unit at Eberspaecher, emphasized that their combined expertise in battery management systems and Farasis’ battery cell and housing technology will enable them to better meet the needs of automotive manufacturers.
Thomas Schnepf, General Manager of Farasis Energy Europe, noted that this collaboration will deliver optimal battery solutions from a single source. With Farasis’ expertise in cell production and Eberspaecher’s focus on customer interfaces, the partnership is well-positioned to offer integrated solutions for the automotive sector.
In 2024, Eberspaecher introduced one of Europe’s first ASIL-C rated 12V lithium-ion battery management systems for automotive applications, marking a significant step in the transition from lead-acid to lithium-ion batteries. This shift results in weight savings and enhanced safety for automated driving systems. The company is already advancing the development of the next generation of battery management systems for voltage ranges between 12V and 48V.
