Showcasing the spirit of adventure, endurance and long-distance touring, two Ducati owners from India, Dr Ashutosh Palep and Fredoon Kapadia, have successfully completed an epic 13,765-kilometre motorcycle expedition from Mumbai to Misano, Italy, to participate in the Ducati Centenary celebrations at World Ducati Week 2026. Named the I2I Expedition 2026, the journey saw the riders traverse 13 countries—India, Nepal, China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia and Italy—on their Ducati Multistrada motorcycles. The expedition covered a wide range of landscapes, climates and road conditions, highlighting the motorcycles’ long-distance touring capabilities and engineering excellence.

A remarkable aspect of the expedition was the flawless performance of both motorcycles throughout the entire journey. Covering more than 13,700 kilometres without a single mechanical issue or even a tyre puncture, the ride demonstrated the durability, reliability and endurance of the Ducati Multistrada platform under demanding real-world conditions. The riders received a special welcome upon arriving in Misano, where Ducati acknowledged their achievement with a commemorative token of appreciation during the company’s centenary celebrations.

Congratulating the riders, Bipul Chandra, Managing Director, Ducati India, said, “DrAshutosh Palep and Fredoon Kapadia have accomplished an extraordinary feat that reflects the passion, determination and adventurous spirit of the Indian Ducati community. Riding from India to Italy across continents without any mechanical issues, while using the same tyres, brake pads, chain and sprockets on a decade-old Multistrada, is a remarkable demonstration of Ducati engineering and reliability. Their journey has inspired riders across the world and reinforces that with preparation, commitment and the right motorcycle, even the most ambitious dreams can become reality. We are proud to have supported them in this memorable expedition.”

The expedition also celebrated the global Ducati community’s shared enthusiasm for exploration, endurance riding and pushing personal limits while strengthening the bond between Indian Ducatisti and the brand’s home in Italy. DrAshutosh Palep, a veteran motorcyclist, has been riding since his teenage years and has accumulated thousands of kilometres across India and abroad. A founding force behind the Ducati Owners Club movement in India, he served as the first President of DOC Mumbai and DOC India and played an instrumental role in establishing DOC Pune, DOC Bengaluru and DOC Kolkata, helping expand Ducati’s riding community nationwide.

Fredoon Kapadia, a Mumbai-based Deep Sea Diver Supervisor and endurance rider, is an active member of the Ducati Owners Club Mumbai. For him, the I2I Expedition 2026 was a personal tribute to Ducati’s 100-year legacy, choosing to celebrate the milestone by riding across continents to the brand’s birthplace.

Founded in 1926 in Borgo Panigale, Bologna, Ducati has built a global reputation for combining distinctive Italian design with advanced engineering and high-performance motorcycles. The company continues to innovate across its product range while maintaining a strong presence in international motorsport, including MotoGP and WorldSBK, where its racing heritage continues to drive technological development and inspire Ducati enthusiasts worldwide.
