In support of India’s “Make in India” initiative, Drone Planet, the country’s leading drone solutions platform, has introduced a new Drone-as-a-Service (DaaS) platform. This platform aims to connect drone entrepreneurs, pilots, and fleet owners with a range of DaaS opportunities. With plans to onboard over 200 local service providers by 2025, Drone Planet is set to enhance India’s rapidly growing drone ecosystem, which is expanding at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20.4% and expected to reach ₹40,000 crores by 2030.

Much like how e-commerce aggregators have transformed sectors like food and shopping, Drone Planet seeks to address the increasing demand for Drone-as-a-Service in India. The platform offers significant benefits to drone manufacturers, including access to a network of over 20,000 buyers from diverse industries.

Manufacturers can take advantage of zero-cost marketplace access, demand generation, and a drop shipping model that eliminates the need for inventory management or capital investment by allowing direct shipments to buyers. Drone Planet is also working on the government’s “Drone Didi” initiative, which aims to train more than 6,500 pilots by 2025, opening up opportunities for local manufacturers, training institutes, and component makers.

“We want to give local manufacturers and service providers the chance to expand their reach beyond their current networks,” said Preet Sandhu, Founder of Drone Planet. “By building a seamless ecosystem, we aim to strengthen India’s self-reliance in the drone industry, allowing buyers to find a wide range of drone solutions that meet their specific needs.”

The platform further supports the drone industry by providing access to DGCA-certified pilots through a network of 31 Remote Pilot Training Organizations (RPTOs). Soon, the platform will also offer financial support options to help local manufacturers secure funding for drone sales.

The DaaS platform is designed as a “single-window” solution, allowing service seekers to easily compare and aggregate offerings to suit their needs. Service providers, on the other hand, can directly source components from listed manufacturers. The platform will categorize services into areas like Rentals, Aerial Surveys, Agriculture, Photography, Surveillance, and more, creating a dynamic marketplace that benefits all stakeholders in the drone industry.

Drone Planet’s long-term vision includes expanding its operations to include a wide range of sectors, including agriculture, surveillance, mapping, mining, and more. It also plans to extend its services to international markets. The company aims to automate its processes and establish a presence in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Western markets by 2028, with India serving as the operational hub.

Drone Planet is India’s all-encompassing platform for drone solutions, offering services in Drone-as-a-Service (DaaS), training, hardware, and enterprise integration. With over 31 Remote Pilot Training Organizations (RPTOs), 26 manufacturers of drones and spare parts, and 42 products listed, the platform is rapidly expanding its network. By 2025, Drone Planet plans to onboard 200+ certified manufacturers, helping meet the growing demand for drones, as evidenced by the 33,000 Unique Identification Numbers (UINs) issued in India as of June 2025.

Under the leadership of Preet Sandhu, Drone Planet is transforming the drone industry by enabling ecosystems, providing excellence in platform services, and executing effective sales and marketing strategies. With a strong focus on “Make in India,” the platform is driving innovation, integrating cutting-edge technologies, and working toward a sustainable future for India’s drone ecosystem.
