Additionally, the Secretary inaugurated a Future Tech-Experts registration portal in collaboration with PANIIT USA, a move to support and guide the Indian Telecom ecosystem. This initiative will be prominently showcased on the Bharat 5G Portal.

A special meeting session titled “Bridging Dreams and Funding: Connecting Venture Capital/Investors to the Future of Startups” was also initiated by the Secretary (T). The event featured an exclusive presentation of innovative telecom products by 26 startups and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) seeking funding.

More than 10 venture capitalists and investors actively participated in the meeting. Startups and MSMEs engaged in discussions on how the venture capital and contributions from international delegates could play a crucial role in fostering the growth and scalability of their products.

Neeraj Mittal, Chairman, Digital Communications Commission and Secretary, Department of Telecommunications highlighted that India’s swift 5G deployment places it among the global leaders, and remarkably, discussions on advancing to 6G have already commenced. Emphasizing India’s status as the second-largest telecom network globally, he expressed how the nation has astonished the world by rapidly developing indigenous 4G/5G technologies.

According to Mittal, there are currently 100,000 startups in India, presenting a significant opportunity for international collaboration. India is now recognized globally as a reliable partner, and there is a growing interest in partnering with the country, whether it be in the realm of 5G or 6G technology.

The focus is on fostering new business opportunities for Indian manufacturers through increased participation of startups. These endeavors underscore India’s dedication to technological progress and the expansion of the telecom industry, playing a crucial role in shaping the nation’s telecommunications future.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the inauguration of the India Mobile Congress, presented 100 “5G Use Case Labs” to educational institutions nationwide. These labs, connected through a dedicated portal, serve as a knowledge-sharing platform for students and startups engaged in testing and developing 5G use cases. TCIL is overseeing the implementation of the labs and portal development.

The Bharat 5G portal, an integrated platform, supports startups, industry, and academia in quantum, 6G, IPR, and 5G domains. Additionally, it includes the Future Tech-Experts registration portal, in collaboration with PANIIT USA, to assist and advise the Indian Telecom ecosystem in achieving self-reliance.

This comprehensive portal serves as a one-stop solution for quantum, IPR, PoCs/Pilot, 5G, and 6G-related activities, consolidating academic R&D, industry standards, OEMs, startups/MSMEs, and subject matter experts. Its goal is to boost India’s 5G capabilities, encourage innovation, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing in the telecom sector.
