Dormer Pramet introduces its newest lineup for 2024, aimed at transforming and streamlining tool selection, configuration, and enhancement in manufacturing procedures. The focus on operational adaptability, plug-and-play architecture, and user-friendly functionality for the fresh series highlights Dormer Pramet’s dedication to simplifying machining tasks.

Dormer Pramet is a renowned global provider of cutting-edge tools for the metal cutting sector. As a member of the Sandvik Group, the foremost leader in cemented carbide tools worldwide, Dormer Pramet offers an extensive range of rotary and indexable drilling, milling, threading, and turning tools suitable for various production environments.

With a strong presence in over 100 markets globally, Dormer Pramet operates from 20 offices, providing exceptional sales and technical support services. Additionally, the company boasts advanced production facilities in Europe, the Americas, and Asia, ensuring efficient delivery through a well-established distribution and logistics network.

Introducing the Dormer R003 and R023, innovative solid carbide drills engineered for optimal performance and cost efficiency across a variety of applications. These drills are designed to deliver a low cost per hole, minimal thrust force, and consistent tool life. Ideal for general-purpose use, they excel in carbon steels and other common workpiece materials.

The drills feature a unique split point for precise self-centering, and a Titanium Nitride (TiN) tip coating exclusively on the cutting zone, ensuring extended tool life and cost efficiency. Their CTW grinding technology allows for multiple regrinds without compromising chip evacuation performance, thanks to a continuously thinned web along the flute length.

With their flute geometry and 120°-point angle, these drills are suitable for use on both CNC and conventional machines. The R003 jobber drills are available in metric sizes ranging from 1mm to 14mm, and in imperial sizes from N60 to ½ inch. Meanwhile, the R023 stub drills, featuring a shorter flute length for increased rigidity, come in metric sizes from 1mm to 12mm.

Dormer Pramet is proud to present its latest line of versatile Dormer E397 and E398 taps, designed for optimal performance and reliability in large-scale production. These taps are available in two styles, spiral point and spiral flute, catering to both through- and blind-hole tapping requirements across various steel manufacturing sectors such as automotive, medical, general engineering, and fasteners.

These new taps are engineered to tap holes up to 2.5 times the diameter, delivering exceptional results in mild steels and a wide range of other materials including stronger steels, stainless steels, cast irons, and non-ferrous alloys. Constructed from a unique Powder Metallurgy High-Speed Steel substrate (HSS-E-PM), these taps offer a perfect balance of toughness and edge strength, enabling high cutting speeds while maintaining tool flexibility.

Moreover, the taps feature a top TiCN coating that enhances cutting speeds, leading to reduced cycle times. The coating also boasts a low coefficient of friction, providing protection against adhesion and cold welding. With nearly 90 items available for each tap style, including DIN, DIN/ANSI, and newly added JIS standards, Dormer Pramet ensures a comprehensive solution for all tapping needs.

Dormer Pramet has introduced the SSO12 milling family, a versatile high feed milling concept suitable for both the Die and Mold industry and general machining. This new milling family features a positive design of milling cutters and inserts, ensuring high productivity, minimal vibrations, reduced noise, and exceptional power efficiency. The HFC cutters within the SSO12 family provide a high metal removal rate thanks to their fast feed rate per tooth.

These cutters efficiently evacuate chips upwards in a controlled direction, offering long-lasting cutting edge durability and energy savings. The SSO12 range includes three types of cutter bodies, available in both inch and metric sizes, and offers a straightforward selection of geometries and grades. Additionally, Dormer Pramet’s T8415 PVD turning grade is designed for high performance when turning a wide range of steel and ISO materials.

This grade provides a unique blend of toughness and wear resistance, extending tool life and allowing for a variety of applications, including hardened steels and Heat Resistance Super Alloys (HRSA). It performs exceptionally well with coolant on stainless steel, further enhancing its versatility.

The latest generation of the T8415 grade boasts a multi-layered PVD coating that ensures consistent performance across a wide range of workpieces. This coating is designed to enhance security, minimize friction, prolong tool life, and provide excellent wear resistance. Specifically engineered for finish to medium turning applications, this grade delivers optimal results at medium cutting speeds and light to medium feed rates.

The use of coolant in specific applications further extends the tool’s lifespan. Available in various shapes and sizes, with both positive and negative chip breaker geometries, T8415 is a versatile solution for manufacturers. In line with Dormer Pramet’s commitment to simplifying choices, reducing tooling inventory, and improving performance, these new products represent a significant advancement in manufacturing efficiency.

Amit Raina, Country Manager, India, expressed enthusiasm for the launch of these cutting-edge solutions, which embody Dormer Pramet’s dedication to operational simplicity and efficiency. These new products are designed to empower manufacturers by offering versatility, durability, and performance across a wide range of applications, aligning with the brand’s promise to simplify machining processes and drive success for customers.
