Dormer Pramet the global manufacturer of cutting tools acquired India based Miranda Tools during mid of 2020. The company recently celebrated its acquisition of Miranda Tools at a special event at their Ankleswar Production Unit. ‘Make the Shift’ initiative witnessed diversity and inclusion in its workforce at Dormer Pramet’s Ankleshwar facility, where many steps were taken towards employee welfare, and empowerment.

It is now more than a year since Dormer Pramet completed the acquisition of Miranda Tools in India. To mark the occasion, a special event led by Dormer Pramet Managing Director Angala Srinivasan was held at the end of last year, involving all employees located at the Ankleshwar production unit (PU), as well as the sales team of Dormer Pramet across the country.
For the management of Dormer Pramet, this was an opportunity to thank and congratulate everyone involved in what has been a successful integration and transformation of the Miranda brand into the Dormer Pramet family. In the traditional Indian way, the event started with offering prayers to Lord Ganesha, as the remover of obstacles and showering good luck.
Since the acquisition, Dormer Pramet has invested in several upgrades on workplace safety, health and creating a better environment for employees, with sprinklers, air circulation systems, better lighting and flooring for easy material movement. This was achieved through an upgrade and refurbishment of machinery with an improved layout in the Tool bits and Endmills production floor.

Following Dormer Pramet’s commitment to sustainability, a designated place for handling and disposal of process waste has been set up. In addition, Dormer Pramet has increased employment facilities for more than 750 people at the Ankleshwar facility.
This includes improved employee facilities, such as a new canteen, reception area and designated parking for the safe movement of employees around the premises of its main plant.
Another key initiative has enabled opportunities for more female employees, taking key roles in management positions, and contributing towards Dormer Pramet’s diversity and inclusion objectives to ‘Make the Shift’. Also, as a part of its social and community development, employees’ children were awarded scholarships for higher education and the plantation of 100 trees was initiated in a nearby village, close to the production unit.
