Dixon Technologies, an Indian electronics manufacturer, announced the creation of a wholly-owned subsidiary named Dixon Teletech, which will focus on the production of IT hardware components. Although the subsidiary was officially established on September 28, the parent company completed the subscription payment on November 4.
In a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Dixon Technologies outlined that the new subsidiary aims to “manufacture and deal” in various IT hardware products and components. The company has subscribed to 10,000 equity shares of the subsidiary at a face value of INR 10 each, totaling a cash investment of INR 1 lakh.
This move coincides with Dixon’s plans to expand its operations by setting up multiple facilities for laptop assembly, leveraging the government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) 2.0 scheme for IT hardware. The company has already secured contracts with major laptop brands such as HP, Lenovo, Acer, and Asus to produce IT hardware domestically.
Dixon is targeting revenues of INR 3,500 crore from its IT hardware segment by the fiscal year 2025-26 and aims for a total of INR 48,000 crore over the next six years. The firm has established itself as a key player in the local electronics manufacturing sector by meeting its PLI targets and benefiting from government incentives, particularly in smartphone manufacturing, with existing partnerships with brands like Samsung, Motorola, Xiaomi, and Jio.
This development comes as global IT hardware companies are looking to establish manufacturing operations in India, anticipating changes to the current import authorization regime for personal computers and related devices, which is set to shift starting January 1, 2025, following the expiration of existing regulations at the end of December 2024.
Dixon Technologies is a leading Indian electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider, known for its extensive product range and manufacturing capabilities.
