Indian space tech startup Digantara is setting its sights on generating $25 million to $30 million in revenue over the next two years as it expands into the US. The company aims to secure major defense contracts and tap into the $60 billion space surveillance and intelligence market.

To support its growth, Digantara plans to invest $10 million to $15 million over the next six to eight months in establishing a spacecraft manufacturing and space optics production facility in Colorado. The company has already signed multiple contracts with US Department of Defense agencies, including the US Air Force and Space Force, though specific details remain undisclosed.

Recently, Digantara launched its first space-based surveillance satellite aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-12 mission. Equipped with cutting-edge electro-optical sensors, the satellite can detect space objects as small as 5 cm in diameter. With low Earth orbit becoming increasingly crowded—housing more than 14,000 satellites, including 3,500 inactive ones—space traffic and debris management have emerged as critical challenges for the global space industry.

“With space safety and security more important than ever, our US expansion—especially in Colorado—allows us to work closely with key stakeholders and enhance space surveillance capabilities,” said Anirudh Sharma, co-founder and CEO of Digantara.

Digantara is an Indian space-tech startup focused on space situational awareness (SSA) and debris management. Founded in 2018, the company is developing cutting-edge solutions to track and monitor space debris, ensuring the safety of satellites and other assets in Earth’s orbit. With the increasing congestion in space due to the rising number of satellites and defunct objects, Digantara’s technology provides real-time data and predictive analytics to mitigate collision risks. By leveraging advanced sensors and AI-driven algorithms, the company aims to create a more sustainable space environment, aligning with global efforts to address space debris challenges.

Beyond debris tracking, Digantara is also working on next-generation space weather monitoring and navigation systems to enhance the operational efficiency of satellites. The company is developing India’s first private SSA infrastructure, which will enable precise tracking of objects in low Earth orbit (LEO) and beyond. With strategic collaborations and support from government and private organizations, Digantara is positioning itself as a key player in the global space industry. As space exploration and satellite deployment continue to expand, Digantara’s innovative solutions will play a crucial role in ensuring the long-term sustainability and security of space activities.
