DGS and C-DAC Sign MoU to Foster Maritime Technological Innovation

In a significant step toward modernizing India’s maritime sector, the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) have signed an umbrella Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement, formalized by Shri Shyam Jagannathan, Director General of Shipping, and Shri E. Magesh, Director General of C-DAC, was witnessed by key officials from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and senior representatives from both organizations.

The partnership between the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) aims to modernize India’s maritime administration through the adoption of advanced technologies. By leveraging DGS’s maritime expertise and C-DAC’s proficiency in high-performance computing, cybersecurity, blockchain, and e-governance, this collaboration is set to drive innovation and efficiency in the maritime sector.

Key focus areas include the digital transformation and automation of maritime processes, enabling seamless and efficient operations across the industry. Additionally, the initiative will emphasize advanced maritime data analytics and predictive modeling, which can provide actionable insights for better decision-making and resource optimization.

The partnership also seeks to enhance maritime education and training through technology-driven solutions while addressing the critical need for robust cybersecurity measures for maritime IoT systems. Furthermore, a significant focus will be placed on research and development to advance new maritime technologies, positioning India as a leader in the global maritime domain.

This collaboration aligns with DGS’s vision to become a globally recognized and forward-thinking maritime authority. The MoU sets the stage for a technologically advanced, sustainable maritime ecosystem in India, tackling industry challenges and unlocking new opportunities through innovation and collaboration. The signing ceremony was attended by notable figures from both DGS and C-DAC, as well as key MeitY officials, marking a milestone in India’s efforts to modernize its maritime sector and drive technological progress.
