DesignX, a startup focused on digital transformation in the manufacturing sector, has secured $1 million in pre-Series A funding from Piper Serica Angel Fund. This follows a $300,000 equity investment in 2021 from Modular Capital, Accel, and industry veterans.
Founded by Rajat Srivastava and Nishant Srivastava, both engineers with deep manufacturing experience, DesignX aims to revolutionize manufacturing shop floors through hyper-automation. The company’s flagship product, the Df-OS platform, empowers factories to increase productivity and sustainability with real-time data analytics. Key sectors such as automotive, FMCG, and consumer electronics benefit from the platform by reducing waste and lowering carbon footprints.
DesignX’s goal is to transform the manufacturing landscape with minimal infrastructure investment, drawing parallels to the widespread impact of UPI and 4G technologies. The new funding will accelerate the company’s expansion into markets such as APAC, Japan, and Europe, helping factories achieve Lighthouse status with a focus on AI-driven analytics and sustainability.
“We started with a vision that has evolved into a powerful product poised to redefine global manufacturing,” said Rajat Srivastava, CEO and Co-Founder of DesignX. “This funding will help spread awareness of our groundbreaking solutions.”
Nishant Srivastava, CTO and Co-Founder, added, “Our commitment to advancing manufacturing technology will be further strengthened with this investment, enhancing the performance and adoption of our Df-OS application.” With a decade-long focus on Industry 4.0, DesignX has partnered with major industry leaders such as Unilever, Hero MotoCorp, and Dabur.
Ajay Modi, Investment Director at Piper Serica, commented, “India is at the forefront of a manufacturing revolution. DesignX’s Df-OS offers a flexible, cost-effective solution with unmatched understanding of manufacturing processes. We are excited about its potential in the market.”
Digital transformation remains a significant challenge for manufacturers due to outdated processes and infrastructure limitations. DesignX’s Df-OS addresses these issues by reducing both time and costs associated with transforming factory operations, enabling quick adaptation to modern demands. With the factory process application market valued at $34 billion annually, DesignX is positioned to capture up to 50% of this market in the next 7 to 10 years.
In the past three years, DesignX has digitized over 10,000 processes across 500 factories, connecting more than 1,400 machines in real time and serving over 405 customers. Looking ahead, the company plans to double its customer base, expand into new regions, and achieve substantial annual reductions in CO2 emissions through optimized manufacturing processes.
