Delta Electronics India, based in Bengaluru, has unveiled a new research and development (R&D) facility that will play a pivotal role in advancing both local and global energy solutions. According to Niranjan Nayak, Managing Director of Delta Electronics India, the facility is expected to contribute around 70% of its work towards projects in India, with the remaining 30% supporting global initiatives. These proportions may shift depending on future needs.
Though the R&D center is in its early stages, Nayak anticipates a surge in orders within the next five years. The company plans to integrate its local business with global R&D efforts, fostering innovation across both markets. “We expect a significant increase in projects as we grow our R&D capabilities and develop new solutions for global markets,” Nayak told a newspaper.
The new Bengaluru facility will focus on renewable energy solutions, particularly designing products like solar inverters to support India’s growth in the sector over the next decade. The center will also work on energy storage solutions tailored to meet the country’s diverse energy needs.
Delta’s R&D team is also heavily involved in developing components and infrastructure for India’s booming electric vehicle (EV) market, particularly for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers. Additionally, the center will focus on products for data centers and industrial automation, both of which are expected to see substantial growth in the coming years.
Nayak emphasized that Delta’s India-based R&D approach is flexible and can quickly adjust to shifting demands, such as increasing its software expertise if needed for global projects. Currently, Delta employs over 300 engineers, with plans to hire an additional 500-700 engineers over the next five years to meet its ambitious goals.
