Delta Electronics India has entered a long-term agreement with Ventus Energy Consultancy to use wind energy for its operations in Tamil Nadu, aiming to cut its carbon emissions. Under the 12-year deal, Delta will purchase 9.6 million units of wind-generated electricity annually to support its manufacturing sites across the state. This shift is projected to lower the company’s carbon output by about 6,979 metric tonnes each year, reducing reliance on fossil fuel-based power.
The electricity will be supplied from wind farms located in the districts of Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, and Tiruppur, with delivery facilitated through the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO). Delta plans to roll out similar energy sourcing strategies across its other sites in India. The company is also integrating its own automation and industrial IoT systems to track and manage renewable energy use in real time.
Speaking in a company announcement, President Benjamin Lin said the shift toward renewable sources supports broader climate targets and reflects Delta’s environmental priorities. “Bringing clean energy into our manufacturing aligns our business growth with India’s sustainability goals,” he said.
Managing Director Niranjan Nayak added that these power purchase agreements (PPAs) form part of Delta’s broader effort to lower emissions and meet international benchmarks such as RE100 and the Science Based Targets initiative. Delta Electronics operates two data centers and has developed 35 certified green buildings globally. Its agreement with Ventus is also intended to set an example for energy partnerships in the industrial sector.
P Vijayabaskaran, Director of Ventus Energy Consultancy, said the company brings over 15 years of experience in managing renewable assets in Tamil Nadu. “As Delta expands its clean energy use, we will continue to support them with strategic sourcing and compliance planning,” he said.
