Delectrik Systems Pvt. Ltd. has launched a new multi-megawatt-hour Vanadium Flow Battery-based energy storage system designed for large-scale commercial, industrial, and utility applications. The core unit is a 2 MW, 10 MWh flow battery (with 5 hours of storage capacity) that can be scaled up to exceed 100 MWh. For extensive projects, the system can achieve a per-acre installed capacity of approximately 200 MWh. The first installation of this scale is scheduled for deployment in India in the first half of 2025.

Previously, Delectrik has provided flow batteries ranging from small 10 kWh units to containerized MWh-scale systems suitable for smaller commercial and industrial needs. The new product aims to address the growing demand for large-scale applications.

Dr. Vishal Mittal, Founder and CEO of Delectrik, explained, “Our focus has been on expanding into international markets, with current exports to nine countries across five continents. As we scale, we plan to set up manufacturing and assembly hubs in key regions, starting with our first overseas subsidiary in Australia. We aim to replicate our ‘Made in India’ model in global markets while also expanding our presence in India with our new large-scale flow battery solution.”

In addition to direct sales, Delectrik plans to offer energy storage through an operational expenditure (Opex) model via its subsidiary, Delectrik Esaas Pvt. Ltd. This approach will enable organizations to significantly transition to green energy and achieve greater savings on energy costs. The levelized cost of energy (LCOE) for the combination of photovoltaics and flow batteries is already competitive with current electricity tariffs in several regions.

According to the National Electricity Plan (NEP 2023), India will require 411 GWh of stationary battery energy storage systems by 2031-32, presenting a significant opportunity for cost-effective, long-duration, and durable solutions like Delectrik’s Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries
