Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL), the worldwide infra conglomerate spread over 20 nations, has been permitted to generate weapons and equipment for the Defense sector. This approval is from the Ministry of Home and Ministry of Commerce and Industry for setting up of a plant at Jeedimetla, Hyderabad.

For manufacture of arms, ancillaries, vehicles, and weapons, MEIL has submitted an application under the Defense Procurement Policy 2020, which is a section of the Make in India program, to permit MEIL for the same. The Indian Government carefully examined the ability of MEIL under various government stipulations and approved the application. The MEIL group has a capital outlay of INR 500 crores for the facility.

MEIL initially ventured into the Construction and Infrastructure segments and then moved into Aviation, Solar Power, Power, and Oil & Gas and is now entering Defense. IComm Tele Limited, the MEIL group company, is a contributor to national defense organizations in technology and science. IComm also contributes to the Power Distribution and Transmission and Solar Power segments. IComm supplies radars, wind profiles, electronic warfare containers, antennas, EW shelters, jammers, and advanced communication radios. IComm, in April 2020, launched the first Indian mobile Virology lab to fight the Coronavirus pandemic.

MEIL’s planned Defense Manufacturing facility will generate equipment to missiles, cannons, rockets, machine guns, multi-barrel rocket launcher, missiles, all-terrain light combat vehicle, bridge laying vehicle, mine-laying vehicles, armed multi-purpose vehicles, infantry combat vehicles, soldiers carrying vehicles, armored recovery vehicles, armored engineer recovery vehicles, light combat vehicles, and ancillaries to combat vehicles.

MEIL is known for many excellent projects worldwide. It has records of projects in Aviation, Roadways, Power Generation and Distribution, Drinking Water, Oil and Natural Gas, and Irrigation. In Andhra Pradesh, its Handri-Neeva Sujal Sravanthi project is a rare lift irrigation project, which pumps water to the high and distance terrains. Other projects are the world’s largest multi-stage lift irrigation Kaleshwaram project and Pattiseema and Nambulapoolakunta substations. MEIL has a record to complete the solar project by execution of 50 megawatts Andhra Pradesh solar power project and a 10-megawatt innovative Gujarat canal top solar project. MEIL has completed five river linking projects in India. This includes Krishan-Penna, Krishna-Godavari, Godavari-Eleru, and Narmada-Kshipra- Simhastha. MEIL fulfills Hyderabad’s needs through the largest drinking water schemes. The Western UP power transmission and power supply system (WUPPTCL) is also a product of MEIL.

MEIL has introduced the world’s advanced engineering and technology skills. MEIL finds a place in the Limca book of records due to the completion of Pattiseema and NP Kunta substation projects. "With the necessary approvals in place, Megha group is setting up most modern manufacturing facilities to produce various cutting-edge defence equipment indigenously at our upcoming new facility at Hyderabad. I am happy that Megha group is fulfilling Hon'ble Prime Minister's vision and dream of Make in India initiative," said Srinivas Bommareddy, President, MEIL.
