DEE Development Engineers Ltd, a leading industrial solutions provider, is set to enter the hydrogen production space, identifying it as a sector with promising growth potential. Chairman and Managing Director Krishan Lalit Bansal shared that the company has recently taken initial steps into building smaller-scale gas and chemical plants. As part of this move, DEE has acquired a 70% stake in Maldives Design Ltd — a firm specializing in the manufacture of nitrogen and oxygen generation systems, hydrogen purification units, and ammonia cracking equipment.
“The hydrogen purification and ammonia cracking systems will play a critical role in our contribution to this growing field,” Mr Bansal said in an interview. He noted that while the hydrogen sector is still in its early stages and market projections remain uncertain, government support and future policies are expected to drive substantial demand.
“We see strong potential here, which is why we’ve chosen to make this strategic move. It also creates opportunities in our core area — process piping — especially as hydrogen systems become more integrated,” he added.
Currently, the company already delivers hydrogen purification solutions. Looking ahead, it is seeking technology partnerships to enable the full-scale manufacturing of hydrogen plants, including purification systems. This diversification aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, which targets annual production of five million metric tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030. The initiative also plans to add 125 GW of renewable power, aiming to cut carbon emissions, reduce fossil fuel dependence, and position India as a leader in hydrogen technology.
DEE Development Engineers, which recorded revenue of ₹827.36 crore in FY 2024-25, is projecting growth to ₹1,300 crore for FY 2025-26. The company is India’s largest provider of process piping solutions by installed capacity, with advanced manufacturing units in key locations.
The firm offers tailored engineering, procurement, and manufacturing services across sectors such as oil and gas, power (including nuclear), chemicals, and industrial processing. Its product line includes high-pressure piping systems, spools, induction pipe bends, LSAW pipes, industrial fittings, pressure vessels, stacks, modular skids, and other components. DEE also has capabilities in working with specialized materials like carbon steel, stainless steel, super duplex, Inconel, and Hastelloy.
