Daimler Truck has officially opened a new manufacturing facility in Cikarang, Indonesia, under its subsidiary, Daimler Commercial Vehicles Manufacturing Indonesia (DCVMI). This plant marks an important milestone in the company’s strategy to address the growing demand for commercial vehicles across Southeast Asia.

Spanning 15 hectares, the facility is designed to produce up to 5,000 Mercedes-Benz trucks and buses annually. With an investment of IDR 500 billion, the plant will serve as both an assembly and distribution center, combining advanced German engineering, manufacturing expertise from India, and a strong understanding of the Indonesian market.

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) in Chennai will support the plant by supplying Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits. With its experience in cost-effective, high-quality production, DICV is expected to help ensure efficient operations and flexibility across the region. Satyakam Arya, Managing Director and CEO of DICV, emphasized that the Indonesian plant aligns with Daimler Truck’s long-term strategy for Southeast Asia and underscores India’s pivotal role as a key export hub.

The new facility is built to optimize production flow and flexibility. It incorporates advanced manufacturing systems, a test track to replicate real-world road conditions, and a cutting-edge paint booth, all adhering to Mercedes-Benz’s global standards.

At this plant, Mercedes-Benz Axor trucks will be assembled, including models such as the 2528 CH, 4928 T, 4028 T, 4023 T, 2528 RMC, 2528 CX, and 2528 C. Additionally, bus chassis models OH 1626 L and OH 1626 S will be tailored for the Indonesian market.

Located in Wanaherang, West Java, the facility is responsible for assembling Mercedes-Benz and FUSO commercial vehicles, including trucks and buses tailored to the region’s diverse transport and logistics needs. DCVMI plays a vital role in ensuring high-quality, locally assembled vehicles that meet both international standards and local market demands. By combining advanced manufacturing practices with a strong commitment to customer service and aftersales support, DCVMI contributes significantly to Daimler Truck’s growth strategy in Indonesia and the broader ASEAN region.
