DB Schenker India, a logistics sector specialist, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) to collaborate on EXIM and domestic business, with a strong emphasis on sustainability. CONCOR, a logistics service provider in India, operates across the country with 64 container terminals. The signing ceremony for the MoU took place on December 19, 2023, in New Delhi, India, in the presence of Sanjay Swarup, CMD of CONCOR, Kinjal Pande, CEO of DB Schenker (India and Indian Subcontinent), and senior officials from CONCOR and DB Schenker.
Kinjal Pande, Chief Executive Officer of DB Schenker for Cluster India and Indian Subcontinent, commented, “This strategic collaboration marks an important milestone in our commitment to providing enhanced sustainable products to our customers. Road continues to be the dominant mode of transport in India, and through this strategic partnership for Rail Freight, we aim to significantly change the trend towards a low-carbon future.”
CMD CONCOR, Sanjay Swarup, highlighted that both CONCOR and DB Schenker are leaders in their respective fields, and the two organizations are joining forces to offer an array of end-to-end services seamlessly to customers. This collaboration is expected to further improve India’s position in the ‘ease of doing business,’ a prime focus area for the government of India. CONCOR’s network of 64-container terminals will be complemented by DB Schenker’s 50 warehouses and 5 million square feet of space in India.
The MoU signifies a strategic partnership that leverages the strengths of both DB Schenker and CONCOR. The collaboration aims to enhance logistics efficiency, provide sustainable transportation solutions, and contribute to the overall growth of the logistics sector in India. DB Schenker, with its global presence and expertise, brings valuable insights and capabilities to the partnership. The company’s vision is to enhance sustainability and innovation in the logistics industry. By emphasizing rail freight as a mode of transport, the collaboration seeks to address environmental concerns and align with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
CONCOR, as one of the major players in the Indian logistics landscape, brings extensive infrastructure and experience to the table. The company’s widespread presence across container terminals positions it as a key facilitator for seamless transportation and trade operations. The collaboration is expected to streamline logistics processes, improve connectivity, and contribute to the growth of the Indian economy. Rail freight is identified as a key focus area for the collaboration, considering its potential to offer a more sustainable and efficient mode of transportation compared to road-based logistics. By promoting rail freight solutions, the partnership aims to reduce the carbon footprint of transportation activities, aligning with broader sustainability goals.
In addition to EXIM business, the collaboration is expected to enhance domestic logistics solutions, providing businesses with a comprehensive and efficient supply chain ecosystem. The combined strengths of DB Schenker and CONCOR are poised to create synergies that benefit customers, promote sustainable practices, and contribute to the overall development of the logistics sector in India.
