Danfoss India has strengthened its support for the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative by expanding the localisation of HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) compressors and controls. The company has unveiled a robust localisation strategy to meet the expected surge in demand from the Indian Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (RAC) market.

As part of this initiative, Danfoss India will invest an additional Rs 500 crores, which was announced earlier this year, to bolster its local manufacturing capabilities for HVACR compressors and controls. This investment aims to reduce import dependence, strengthen the local supply chain, and ensure the company can meet the growing demand for energy-efficient and sustainable cooling solutions in India.

India remains Danfoss’ fastest-growing market, and the company is on track to meet its revenue target of Rs 5000 crores by 2026. This expansion will be driven by an extended geographic presence and the creation of a skilled workforce aligned with India’s carbon neutrality goals.

Kristian Strand, President of Danfoss Commercial Compressors, Denmark, stressed the importance of India in Danfoss’ global strategy. He highlighted the company’s commitment to increasing its local compressor production, fostering the growth of a local supplier ecosystem, and contributing to India’s global climate solutions.

Currently, Danfoss’ products, including compressors, heat exchangers, and controls, already meet 60-70% of customer demands in India. The company plans to increase localisation across various product segments as part of its broader strategy. The Rs 500 crore investment will also focus on developing local talent, particularly green professionals, to adapt to market trends and emerging opportunities.

Madhur Sehgal, Head of Climate Solutions at Danfoss India, noted that localising compressors and RAC controls would have a significant impact on the Indian HVACR industry. The company aims to build a strong local supply chain to support its ‘Make in India’ goals while also assisting customers with their cooling and decarbonisation needs.

In addition, Danfoss is committed to developing green professionals in India through collaborations with academic institutions, government ITIs, and rural colleges. The company’s initiatives, including Centers of Excellence and sustainability-focused programs, aim to foster future engineers and technicians and increase female participation in the HVACR sector.

Ravichandran Purushothaman, President of Danfoss India, emphasized the company’s dedication to India and its potential to become a key manufacturing hub for both national and global markets. The investments in local production will enable Danfoss to deliver high-quality products efficiently while contributing to a more sustainable future across various sectors.

Danfoss India is a leading player in the Indian market, specializing in energy-efficient solutions for various industries, including HVACR (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration), climate solutions, and industrial automation. A subsidiary of the global Danfoss Group, the company focuses on providing sustainable technologies that contribute to energy savings and reducing environmental impact.

Danfoss India has a strong commitment to the “Make in India” initiative and is actively increasing its local manufacturing capabilities to meet the growing demand in sectors such as refrigeration, air conditioning, and energy efficiency. The company has invested significantly in expanding its production facilities and is focused on developing a skilled workforce in the country, with particular emphasis on green professionals. With a diverse portfolio of products and solutions, the company plays a vital role in advancing India’s energy efficiency and sustainability goals while contributing to the nation’s economic growth.
