In a bid to revitalize local ecosystems and support community wellbeing, Dana India has successfully completed two significant Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the villages of Charal and Gokulpura, located in the Sanand region of Gujarat. These projects, centered around crucial water resource management, highlight Dana’s dedication to environmental stewardship and enhancing the quality of life for local residents.
The first initiative focused on the cleaning and rejuvenation of a pond in Charal Village, a project designed to improve water quality and restore the ecosystem for the benefit of the 3,500 villagers. Funded by Graziano Trasmissioni India Pvt Ltd, an affiliated company of Dana Incorporated, this project reached completion in December 2023. The rejuvenated pond is expected to provide a sustainable water source, enhance local biodiversity, and support agricultural activities in the village.
In Gokulpura Village, which is home to a larger population of 5,500 residents, Dana India undertook a project aimed at increasing the village’s water storage capacity. This initiative, also sponsored by Graziano Trasmissioni India Pvt Ltd, was completed in March 2024. The enhanced water storage infrastructure is set to significantly improve water availability for domestic use and irrigation, thereby bolstering the community’s resilience to water scarcity and supporting local livelihoods.
