Cement manufacturer Dalmia Bharat has announced an investment of approximately Rs 3,520 crore in Maharashtra and Karnataka to enhance its cement production capacity by 6 million tonnes per annum (MnTPA). The company plans to set up a 3.6 MnTPA clinker plant and a 3 MnTPA grinding unit at its existing Belgaum facility in Karnataka.

Additionally, a new greenfield grinding unit with a capacity of 3 MnTPA will be established in Pune, Maharashtra. The funding for this expansion will come from a mix of debt and internal accruals. Once completed, Dalmia Bharat’s total installed cement capacity will rise to 55.5 MnTPA, which includes an ongoing expansion of 2.9 MnT in Assam and Bihar.

The new plants are expected to be operational by Q4 FY27, catering to the increasing demand for cement in Western India and other regions. The Belgaum unit will serve the Southern Maharashtra market, while the Pune unit will focus on Western Maharashtra.

This expansion is part of Dalmia Bharat’s larger goal to become a PAN India player, with plans to reach a 75 MnTPA capacity by FY28 and 110-130 MnTPA by 2031. Managing Director and CEO Puneet Dalmia emphasized that this move is a crucial part of the company’s Phase II expansion strategy to meet the rising infrastructure demand in Western India.
