Dalmia Bharat Ltd (DBL), India’s fourth-largest cement producer, announced on Monday that it has achieved a production capacity of 49.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) for the financial year 2025. This milestone follows the commencement of commercial production of an additional 0.5 MTPA at its Rohtas Cement Works (RCW) plant in Bihar, the company said in a statement.
The strategic expansion, with an investment of Rs 96 crore at the existing integrated plant, raises the total capacity to 1.6 MTPA. The launch of Line 2 at the plant underscores DBL’s commitment to strengthening its market presence in Eastern India and is aligned with its long-term goal of expanding its capacity to 110-130 MTPA by 2031.
Dalmia Bharat has a significant presence in the Eastern region, with plants in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha. This expansion will help DBL meet the growing demand for infrastructure development in sectors like roads, railways, and airports across Eastern India. Additionally, the project is expected to create new job opportunities and contribute to regional economic growth.

According to the Cement Manufacturers’ Association (CMA), India’s total cement production capacity stands at 690 MTPA. The cement industry is led by UltraTech Cement, a subsidiary of Aditya Birla Group, which holds a capacity of 188.76 MTPA of grey cement, followed by Adani Group’s Ambuja Cements, with over 100 MTPA in installed capacity.
