Combating COVID-19, Daimler Suspends Most Production at Europe

In a recent press note, Daimler AG the owners of premium auto brand Mercedes Benz informed that the majority of their production in Europe will be suspended for two weeks. The whole of Europe is battling the Corona Virus, as the block is now under the attack of the pandemic, after China. The company updated that the suspension is in line with the recommendations from local, national and international authorities which will support as precautionary measures to contain the pandemic.

From Europe, now the pandemic is spreading to America, Australia, and other Asian countries including India, where the local authorities are taking several precautions to contain the outbreak. The measures taken in Europe by Daimler AG will be followed by other major players in the field, where most of the companies are clueless in combating the Corona Virus and protect its employees.

In India, the national and local authorities are recommending work from home and promoting social distance at workplaces, including the shop floors, a measure expected to delay or contain the pandemic. Local authorities of Pune, an industrial prominent city in India, which houses several automotive OEMs & component manufactures has imposed Section 144, prohibiting a gathering of more than 5 people in or outside any premises.

Daimler will ensure wherever operations need to be continued, appropriate precautions will be taken to prevent the infection of its employees.

In its press note, Daimler’s management informed that they are monitoring the situation constantly and will take further measures as required. They also informed full operations will be resumed once the situation improves. The current suspension applies to Daimler’s car, van, and commercial vehicle plants in Europe and will start this week.
