Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, has achieved the prestigious Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Platinum certification under the updated and stringent Version 2 standards. DICV’s manufacturing facility in Oragadam, Tamil Nadu, is the first in India and the only one among 31 evaluated plants to receive this honor for its commitment to sustainable industrial practices.
The IGBC Platinum certification is a globally recognized benchmark for excellence in green building and sustainable operations. It aligns with the World Green Building Council’s framework, aiming to promote eco-friendly practices across industrial facilities. DICV’s Oragadam plant implemented a range of sustainability measures, including energy efficiency, water conservation, use of renewable energy, effective waste management, and biodiversity enhancement, setting a high standard for sustainable manufacturing in India.
The facility’s efforts are driven by DICV’s SPUR framework—Source, Produce, Use, Regenerate—designed to minimize resource consumption while optimizing performance. This approach has not only reduced the plant’s environmental footprint but also delivered operational efficiencies and enhanced workplace conditions.
