Daewoo, a well-known Korean brand, has announced its entry into India’s kitchen and home appliances sector as part of its strategy to capture a larger share of the country’s expanding market. The company, which began operations in India last year, already offers a variety of products such as LED TVs, IFP LED TVs, alkaline and battery inverters.

After receiving a positive response in India, Daewoo is now accelerating its efforts to broaden its product range by introducing smart kitchen and home appliances. The company stated that its success with selected initial products encouraged this expansion, as it seeks to establish a stronger presence in the competitive market. The new products, which will soon be available in retail stores, include a wide selection such as induction cooktops, mixers, grinders, blenders, toasters, sandwich makers, and steam irons.

“The small home appliance market in India is vast, and there is space for everyone. Indian consumers are increasingly opting for high-quality products that offer dependable after-sales service and warranties,” said H S Bhatia, Managing Director of Daewoo India.

Having quickly established a foothold in the northern and western parts of the country within just six months, it now plans to extend its reach into southern and eastern regions, further strengthening its presence in the Indian market.

Daewoo, a major South Korean conglomerate, was once one of the largest companies in the country, with a diverse range of businesses spanning industries such as automotive, shipbuilding, electronics, and construction.

Founded in 1967 by Kim Woo-Choong, Daewoo quickly expanded its global presence, becoming known for its automobiles and heavy industry products. However, the company faced financial difficulties during the 1997 Asian financial crisis, leading to its eventual collapse and restructuring. Despite the decline of the parent company, several of its divisions, like Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) and Daewoo International, continue to operate independently and remain significant players in their respective industries.
