CynLr (Cybernetics Laboratory), an Indian deep-tech startup focused on Visual Object Intelligence Robotics and Cybernetics, has launched its first international Design & Research Centre in Switzerland. This announcement was made during the Swiss-Indian Innovation Week held at Unlimitrust Campus, Prilly, and led by Pascal Marmier. Organized by Innovaud and Switzerland Global Enterprise, the event underscores the growing partnership between the two nations in innovation.
It’s advanced research, particularly its Vision Product, CLX, has garnered recognition from leading Swiss institutions such as LASA (EPFL) and CSEM, who have shown interest in collaborating. CLX, which contains over 400 components, required fundamental neuroscience-based research for its design. CynLr now seeks to further extend its partnerships in the Swiss ecosystem, with valuable support from Innovaud and SPEI.
Gokul NA, Founder of CynLr, explained, “A single robot adoption often involves extensive customization, costing three times more than the robot itself and taking up to two years. CynLr’s Visual Object Intelligence enables robots to handle over 100,000 parts without prior training, across varied environments and lighting conditions. This makes robots adaptable and ready for multiple tasks without the need for extensive reprogramming.”
The facility was inaugurated by Alain Gillièron, Mayor of Prilly, marking CynLr’s commitment to advancing robotics technology within Switzerland’s innovation-centric ecosystem. CynLr’s platform, CyRo, has already found practical applications in industries like automotive, as it helps companies like Denso and General Motors manage complex automation challenges. CyRo’s visual intelligence allows robots to handle diverse components efficiently, which also benefits warehousing and logistics sectors.
Additionally, CynLr has brought on Dr. Michael Bombile, a robotics expert with experience from EPFL, to further develop CyRo’s Multi-Arm Dynamic Manipulation Engine. This system allows two robotic arms to share tasks in real-time, offering dynamic adaptability.
Patrick Barbey, Managing Director of Innovaud, welcomed CynLr to Switzerland, emphasizing the importance of proximity to top research institutions like EPFL and access to world-class talent in fostering innovation.
Looking ahead, CynLr plans to strengthen its presence in Europe, especially in Germany, France, and Italy, while expanding its team to focus on engineering and research in areas like neuroscience, vision algorithms, and hardware design. The company also has future plans for expansion into the U.S. market.
Founded in 2019 by Gokul NA and Nikhil Ramaswamy, CynLr aims to revolutionize automation by creating robots with human-like visual intelligence. The company has raised $5.2 million in funding over two rounds, with backing from investors such as Speciale Invest and growX Ventures.
