Cummins India, a leading power solutions company, has opened its first IT Global Competency Center (GCC) at its office in Balewadi, Pune. This new center aims to drive innovation and improve operational efficiency for Cummins’ global operations.
The center was inaugurated by Earl Newsome, Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Cummins Inc., and Annapurna Vishwanathan, Chief Information Officer of Cummins India. The GCC will house software engineers, product owners, technology leads, and process experts who will focus on the automotive, manufacturing, and energy sectors. Notably, 55% of the employees at the center are women, highlighting the company’s commitment to gender diversity.
Earl Newsome expressed his excitement about the new center, saying, “For over 60 years, Cummins has invested in India and its people. This new IT center will help us build our IT capabilities and deliver better business experiences globally. Pune’s strong software and engineering environment will help us attract top talent.”
Annapurna Vishwanathan added, “This new center aligns with our goals for business growth and leveraging India’s talent pool. It will help us enhance digital processes and stay competitive.”
The IT GCC will also offer internships and job opportunities for veterans, people with special needs, and those returning to the workforce. It will collaborate with educational institutions to develop future leaders.
Cummins India is a key player in the industrial and automotive sectors, designing and manufacturing a wide range of power solutions. The company operates through thirteen companies in India and employs over 10,000 people.
